The jury in the Child murder of Gabriel Fernandez has heard that Isauro Aguirre conspired with the boy’s mother to torture and kill him because he thought he was gay. Text messages between the two have been presented as evidence in the trial.

Victoria’s Greens Party will propose a motion in support of marriage equality next week, after the deadline for the return of postal votes. Victoria, known as the ‘rainbow state’  is one of the few that hasn’t yet supported the yes campaign.

The Australian Bureau of Statistics has referred 14 complaints to federal police over the attempted sale of marriage equality survey forms online. Four other complaints related to stolen survey forms, while one form was returned containing razor blades.

Robert Guillaume, who portrayed Benson in the TV comedies Soap and Benson and Rafiki in Disney’s The Lion King has died aged 89. Guillaume was an outspoken advocate for HIV & AIDS causes after losing his son Jacques to AIDS in 1990.

And finally, Jane Lynch is in talks with the producers of The Ellen Show to create her own daytime programme. Deadline Hollywood reports that it won’t feature celebrity guests, but will be a ‘feel-good variety show’ and is expected to premiere next Autumn.
