Almost 30 years after the death of Scott Johnson, whose body was found at the bottom of a cliff in Sydney, the coroner has ruled it a hate crime. Johnson’s death, along with 30 others are being reinvestigated after claims that police failed in their duty just because the victims were gay.
Oklahoma City police are hunting the killer of Brooklyn BreYanna Stevenson, whose body was found at a motel in the early hours of Monday morning. The death of Stevenson, who was a transgender woman of colour, is not yet being considered a hate crime.
The U.S. Commission on Civil Rights is urging Congress to protect LGBT employees from discrimination at work. Their new report highlights a “long, serious, and pervasive history of official and unofficial employment discrimination.”
The Australian Family Court ruled today that it’s no longer necessary for transgender children to get court approval to receive stage 2 treatments. Stage 2 involves directing puberty with the introduction of appropriate hormones.
