Ontario’s attorney general has announced that the province will stop prosecuting HIV-positive people with undetectable viral loads, who don’t disclose their status. Currently, HIV positive people who don’t disclose can be charged with aggravated sexual assault.
It’s been confirmed that Randy Berry is no longer acting as America’s Special Envoy for International LGBT rights. Scott Busby is temporarily filling the role – but no details of why Mr Berry left, or who may replace him have been made public.
The Hong Kong government has been given permission to appeal a court decision in favour of a married lesbian couple seeking a spousal visa. One of the women already works in Hong Kong, but same-sex marriages are not recognised, preventing her wife from joining her.
During the final day of debate on marriage equality in the Australian parliament, Liberal MP Tim Wilson proposed to his partner, Ryan Bolger. The acting speaker asked for the words, “a resounding yes” to be recorded as the answer.
And finally, Call Me by Your Name has been chosen as best picture by the LA Film Critics Association. The movie won 3 awards from the Association yesterday which will be presented at their annual dinner on January 13th.
