Australian politicians have voted overwhelmingly in favour of marriage equality, with the law coming into effect on Saturday.

The first Same-Sex marriage will take place in January as applications take 28 days to process.

A new report by the Victory Institute says that despite huge gains in recent elections, only 0.1% of US politicians are LGBT. The report says there needs to be 50 times more elected queer officials to adequately reflect the US population.

Victor Madrigal-Borloz has been appointed the new United Nations Expert on LGBT Rights. Madrigal-Borloz, who currently serves on the Rehabilitation Council for Torture Victims, replaces Vitit Muntarbhorn who resigned in September.

Golden Girl, Bea Arthur’s dream of a residence for homeless LGBT youth is about to become reality as The Ali Forney Center awaits approval from the New York City council. The Bea Arthur Residence will house up to 18 young people in time for Christmas.

And finally, Queen biopic, Bohemian Rhapsody has a new director after Bryan Singer was fired last week. Dexter Fletcher, who starred in Derek Jarman’s Caravaggio and directed Eddie The Eagle takes the helm for the final 2 weeks of shooting.
