Sasha Patterson was shot to death on Tuesday in Nelson Mandela Park, in the city of Port of Spain, Trinidad. Patterson, who was transgender is the 20th murder victim in the area over the past 5 days.
The Botswana government has agreed to issue new documents, recognising the gender of a trans man, following a court ruling. The national registrar confirmed that it will supply him with new documents reflecting his gender by the 18th December.
Doctors in Melbourne will be offering free meningococcal vaccinations to gay and bisexual men from December 11 to try and stem an outbreak of the deadly disease. Eight men have been diagnosed in recent months – with the disease-causing severe disability or even death.
Sunday is International Human Rights Day, starting a year of celebrations marking 70 years since the UN adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. In 1950 the Assembly began observing December 10th as Human Rights Day.
And finally, next year’s Roseanne revival will include some returning queer characters from the original series. Estelle Parsons will reprise her role as Roseanne’s lesbian mother and Sandra Bernhard is set to return as the bisexual Nancy Bartlett for just one episode.
